@Los Diablos Polacos: I would say that around 80-100 euros per fleet. Up to 150 maximum if you really go overboard and buy moiré stuff than you will ever use (I have

).
You will need 2-4 cruiser boxed sets, 1 Battleship or Grand Cruiser (optional, but they look cool and are quite powerful; I recommend the Emperor and the desolator, even if a GC makes a good flagaship as well under 2k points) and maybe some light cruisers or escorts (the later for the imperials; chaos can do fairly well without escorts (and they do not have light cruisers) if you do not fancy them.
A “regular” fleet that you will find quite regularly around includes 4-7 cruisers (that is 2-4 boxed sets since there are 2 plastic cruisers per box), 1 Battleship and some upgrades and other stuff. At least 1 of the cruisers tends to be a heavy cruiser or battlecruiser (depending on your faction). Chaos can do better than imperials without the big ships or the light stuff. Chaos is a cruiser fleet. The big and small toys are there for the show, but the workhorses are the cruisers. The same is not completely true for imperials. The cruisers are vital, but the big ships are better (especially the emperor) and the light ships (dauntless and escorts) are amazing as well (especially the cobra and sword). The bigger the battle, the better the imperial forces perform since formations become more important, and the individual advantage on a ship by ship of the chaos fleet becomes more diluted.
Hope that helps,
Xavi
